Medical Leech Therapy for Osteoarthritis of the Knee: A review

Knee osteoarthritis (OA) is a common problem with increasing prevalence in an ageing population and With disease development, degenerative changes on joint cartilage .Thus, strategies that reduce the symptoms of this disease is very useful property and drugs have side effects of long time , therefore considered alternative approaches in non-drug therapy such as Leech therapy (hirudotheraphy) that having anti-inflammatory and analgesic properties. The purpose of this review is to evaluate of Leech therapy in OA.
