Use of Polymer-Supported Vinylsilane Ligands for Palladium Catalyzed Suzuki-Miyaura Cross-Coupling Reactions

In this study, the synthesis and characterization of new bis(dimethylvinyl)methane palladium(0), poly(styrene)-co-[1,1-bis(dimethylvinyl)ethylstyrenes] palladium (0) and their catalyst activityin Suzuki-Miyaura coupling reactions of aryl bromides with phenylboronic acid have been reported.More importantly, the palladium supported polymer catalyst can be reused for at least sixsuccessive runs without any discernible decrease in its catalytic activity and no remarkable changeswere observed in catalyst structure. The structures of all the new compounds have been elucidatedby a combination of NMR spectroscopy, IR spectroscopy and elemental analysis.
