چکیده مقاله:

Objective: Levamisole is one of the anti-parasitic drugs that widely used in veterinary and aquatic animal medicine. Previous investigations showed that levamisole has some stimulatory effect on immunity and liver metabolism. There is no report about effect of levamisole on lipids and lipoproteins of fish. In this investigation effect of levamisole on cholesterol, triglycerol and lipoproteins of common carp as an indicator for liver function and metabolic activity has been studied. Method & Materials: 120 common carps were divided in to four equal groups. Three groups were feed with food contain three levamisole concentrations (100, 500, 1000 mg/kg levamisole). 30 other fish were fed with same food (without levamisole). After 30 days blood were collected and cholesterol, triglycerol level and lipoproteins were measured. After blood sampling of all fishes, the average and standard deviation of the parameters were measured. The data were analyzed by one way analysis of variance by SPSS 11.5 software. Results & Conclusion: Result showed that in experimental and control group, triglycerol level were 3.42±0.9, 9.38±1.51, 3.02±0.94 and 4±1.01 mg/dl, respectively. Triglycerol in 500mg/kg group was significantly higher than all other groups. Cholesterol level in experimental and control group were 109.76±14.14, 115.08±11.68, 121.09±16.11, 131.86±15.12 mg/dl, respectively. Cholesterol level in experimental groups was significantly lower than the control. High-density lipoproteins (HDL), low-density lipoproteins (LDL) and Very-low-density lipoproteins (VLDL) level in experimental and control group were also measured by electrophoresis. Cholesterol level in experimental groups was significantly lower than that in the control group. HDL level in experimental and control group were 101.31±2.648, 100.28±2.611, 104.27±2.702 and 123.49±3.063, respectively. HDL level in experimental roups was significantly less than that in control group. LDL level in experimental and control groups were 7.68±0.515, 12.49±0.909, 13.
