چکیده مقاله:
Objective: In the present study, impacts of both dietary and bath administration of Zataria multiflora on selected immunological factors of
common carp (Cyprinus carpio) under temperature less than optimum was evaluated in order to determine immuno-stimulatory effect of this essential oil.
Method & Materials: Fish weighing 30-35 g were bathed or fed with Zataria at different doses of 7.5, 15 and 30μl/l and 30, 60 and 120μl/Kg feed for a period of 8 days. Serum lysozyme, bactericidal and respiratory burst activities, total white blood cells, total protein, globulin and albumin were measured on days 1, 2, 8, 15 and 23 after the essential oils administration. On day 23 post administration the remaining fish from each group were intraperitoneally injected with killed Aeromonas hydrophila (6×108cells/ml) and antibody titer was measured 3 weeks later.
Results & Conclusion: The obtained results showed that the essential oil had immuno-stimulatory effect on the above mentioned immunological variables such as respiratory burst activity, antibody titers, total white blood cells and serum bactericidal activity in some test
groups especially those groups that were fed with Zataria at 30 and 60μl/Kg feed
