An innovative Sustainable Urbanism Network: A Framework for Eco-Social Interactions

This paper recommends an integrated strategy for making cities thriving centers of sustainable development and innovation. It starts by assessing what a city is, and then develops a framework for designing a network tool for urban sustainability implementation in respect to its three major pillars, ecology, economy and social. Urban sustainability is still in a dynamic process of clarification in terms of content as well as ways of implementation. One main benefit of this interactive tool is that it serves as a development simulator for architects and urban designers to define a sustainability trajectory over years. The other reason accounts for promoting the culture of appreciating minor acts of sustainability and environmental-friendly solutions. The proposed system identifies ambitious yet feasible social goals that allows people to get involved in many scales. This methodology enhances the level of social sustainability.
