Iran’s Economic, Knowledge and Technology Performance: a Comparative Analysis with the Regional Competitors

The major aim of this study is to understand whether Iran has achieved progress on its Vision 2025 in the fields of knowledge, technology and economy in comparison with the regional competitors. To this end, the paper has been concerned with the past and current status of economic, knowledge and technology performance of Iran and its regional competitors in the South East Asia and Middle East. The findings of the paper indicate that Iran had progresses in the three scope of the vision. Especially, Iran s investment in science worked well. However, in the process of transforming knowledge into technology and commercialization of it, the country has not been successful.
