Synthesis and Characterization of ZIF-8 Nanoparticles at Room Temperature in Non-aqueous Solution

چکیده مقاله:
Zeolitic imidazolate frameworks (ZIFs), a subclass of metal organic frameworks (MOFs), is an emerging class of porous solid nano sized crystals comprised of transition metal ions like Zn and Co and a range of imidazolate linkers in a tetrahedral coordination similar to that in crystalline aluminosilicate zeolites. The excellent thermal and chemical stability and high surface area of ZIFs are attractive for gas separation. In this work, the ZIF materials were synthesized in non-aqueous solution by solvothermal method. The main focus of this study is to synthesis the ZIF-8 nanocrystals in methanol at room temperature during isothermal mixing reactions. The ZIF-8 nanoparticles were characterized by the XRD and SEM analysis. The results revealed that the ZIF-8 powder was uniformlly prepared in the nano form. Based on the SEM analysis, the particle size of ZIF-8 was 80-100 nm. Also, the crystal size of the prepared ZIF-8 which was calculated using Scherrer’s equation was 60 nm.
