The most suitable walking route for tourism through the historical-cultural fabric of Yazd City1

Today, the historical fabrics in the historical cities of Iran are facing many problems; includingloss of identity, emptied of inhabitants, destruction and aging. Various methods can be used torestore these places and tourism development is known to be one of them. The researchpurpose is functional this research is based on field research and descriptive-analyticalmethods and. This paper proposes the most suitable historical-cultural route for walkingtourism development in historical fabric of the city of Yazd, based on the opinions of expertsand stakeholders in tourism. In order to do research, three different routes were introduced andthen designed in historical fabric by ARCGIS software. A questionnaire with 17 indicatorsdesigned and 20 Yazd tourism experts have been asked to choose the most suitable routeaccording to the indicators. For analyzing data, TOPSIS multi-criteria decision analysismethod has been used. Finally, route No. 3 (the route between Jameh Mosque Street and SeyedGol-e Sorkh Street) has been chosen as the best route with potential and facilities fordevelopment of walking tourism. This route could become an ideal tourism attraction byconstructing high quality indigenous arts and crafts exhibitions, traditional hotels, nightlife,hygiene & safety within the route.
