چکیده مقاله:

Diamond tools have been used for cutting and drilling different types of stones, concretes and metals since half a century ago. They are composed of many small segments which are responsible for act of cutting. Most of these segments are metal matrix composites which contain hard diamond particles. The optimizing of matrix wear rate and diamond-matrix adherence enhance cutting ability and service life of diamond tools. In this paper cobalt-bronze alloy has been used as the matrix of diamond segments. BC powders with mean sizes of 500 nm were used separately to control the wear rate of matrix. Samples were produced through powder metallurgy route and by hot-pressing technique. Studies of structural and micro structural analysis were conducted. Vickers hardness tests were carried out in matrix. Wear resistance tests were performed on diamond composite samples. Results showed there are an optimum value for both bronze and B4C contents to achieve the best performance of samples.
