چکیده مقاله:

In MIM process, the feedstock rheological properties are the key features which influence the steady flow and the uniform filling into the mold. In this study, an attempt is made to specify Mg-AlO3 feed stocks for use in powder injection molding (PIM). A binder system containing Paraffin wax (PW), Beeswax (BW), and Stearic acid (SA) was selected and flow characteristics of the compound of aforementioned binder and pure Mg and Al2O, powder in different concentration of nano and micro-Al2O3, shear rate and temperature was investigated via rheological studies using Physica MCR 301 rotary rheometer. The results indicate that the particulate size and concentration of Al2O3 both have great influence on the viscosity of the resulting feedstock. By increasing shear rate and temperature, the viscosity decreases and the instability of feedstock improves. An attempt is also made to correlate the effect of different particulate sizes of Al2O, on the rheological properties of Mg-Al2O3 feed stocks.
