In this study, nonocrystallites of hydroxyapatite (HA) were prepared by co-precipitation from calcium nitrate and hydrogen phosphate di-amonium aqueous solutions. The synthesized nanostructures were then characterized using TEM, XRD and BET-N adsorption measurements. At 2 R.RLAHFAR, S.GHASHGHAIE, IMOBASHERPOUR, B.RAISSI, EMARZBANRADthe next step, electric field assisted deposition of hydroxyapatite particles from an acetone-based suspension on co-planar gold electrodes was studied within the frequency range of 1-10000 Hz. Optical (OM) and Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) of the deposition pattern showed that at frequencies lower than 10 kHz hydroxyapatite particles were deposited on the electrode surface and did not fill the interelectrode gap. By increasing the frequency to 10 kHz, the particles were observed to be assembled into chain-like structures bridging the gap area. The deposition pattern obtained at 10 kHz was ascribed to the dominance of dielectrophoretic force in this frequency which tends to force the particles towards areas of the highest electric field intensity.
