Speed Estimation of Single Phase Induction Motors in Stator Flux Reference Frame

In this paper the methods of speed estimation, widely used in polyphase AC motors, is adapted to single phase induction motors. A machine model in the stationary reference frame is used for the estimation. The method is applied to two single phase induction motors under the traditional fixed capacitor operation and the newly proposed variable capacitor operation. The results show low estimation error and desirable machine performance under the proposed method.
