Dynamical and Thermal Performance of Sol-Gel Nanocomposite Coatings Based on ITO Nanoparticles

Anti-static nanocomposite coatings with different amounts of inorganic phase have been composed via sol-gel precursors (Glycidoxypropyl-trimethoxysilane; GPTMS, Tetramethoxyorthosilicate; TMOS), Indium Tin Oxide (ITO) nanoparticles and crosslinking agent, ethylenediamine (EDA). Dynamical mechanical performance (glass transition temperature; Tg and damping) and thermal stability of the nanocomposite coatings with 1 w% and 2 w% of modified ITO nanoparticles were evaluated and compared with those of the nanocomposite coatings without ITO nanoparticles. The results showed an up-ward trend in Tg and decreasing trend in damping with increasing the inorganic phase. Besides, addition of ITO nanoparticles leads to improved thermal stability of hybrid coatings
