With an average annual growth rate of more than 25% over the recent year, wind is the fastest growing sector of the energy industry all over the world. This growing because of renewable and environmental factors that are the main challenge of the today world. Electricity generation from wind energy sources because of the asynchronous generators with reactive power consumption has problem when faults occur that causes the consumed reactive power of asynchronous generator increased. To resolve this problem, FACTS devices especially STATCOM is used. In the past works in this field, the synchronous reference frame PLL s (SRF-PLL) is used to STATCOM controller. Unfortunately, SRF-PLL has no sufficient speed and accuracy in the detection of negative sequence voltage and current in asymmetric faults detection. This paper, proposes a positive-sequence detector based on a new decoupled double synchronous reference frame phase-locked loop (DDSRF-PLL), which entirely eliminates the detection errors of conventional SRF-PLL. With DDSRF-PLL can achieve the necessary speed and accuracy in detecting faults for STATCOM. The effectiveness of the proposed method is demonstrated on typical power system including a constant speed wind turbine. Simulation results compared with SRF-PLL and without STATCOM show that DDSRF-PLL have better results than other.
