چکیده مقاله:
Designing energy efficient and comfortable buildings requires harmonizing the complex interactions of architecture, construction and building service engineering. However, climate responsive design and traditional design elements of the Persian Gulf may provide a basis for low-energy design. Dubai is located in a subtropical dry area close to the Tropic of Cancer with high temperature in summer and its traditional architecture is a constant and sustainable architecture, because with a stable indicator it is able to answer its ecological matters after the passage of so many years. In other words, providing optimum cooling and heating of residential buildings of desert climate in Dubai so far has been according to the relations of ecology, so that using architectural methods based on climate, local materials and also culture has damaged the environment as little as possible. Current building models employed in Dubai are often unsuited to the region’s climate, causing massive cooling loads as a result of inappropriate site planning, orientation and building envelopes with high levels of glazing. The application of an interdisciplinary design approach that considers urban design, landscape design, architecture and meteorology may provide a more appropriate low-energy design for such hot and arid climate.
