Medical Image Registration Using Mutual Information

Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and computed tomography (CT) registration has widespread applications in medical fields. The use of mutual information (MI) is proven to be effective and successful in registration process. In this experiment, the rotation and the translation (RT) transformation is considered to be applied to the pattern image. Optimization algorithms are often used to find the most appropriate registration parameters. The evolutionary genetic algorithm (GA) has a high global search capacity and the search speed and accuracy of the results in this tool are satisfactory in case of the wisely determined cost function
