In this paper the design and implementation of an electric simulator for aperture-impedance electronic blood cell counter machines is presented. The proposed simulator is capable of generating electric signals which are generated by the change of the impedance in aperture-impedance electronic cell counting machines. This is done to accurately evaluate the performance of processing electronic boards and algorithms of blood cell counter machines. In this paper, the simulator is built by the microcontroller AVR-ATmega 128. Several controlling parameters could be adjusted by operator so that it is possible to generate a variety of waveforms. A reliable PC connection facilitates the online control of the simulator. An interfacing circuit is designed to connect the simulator to the analog electronic board of the cell counters. This circuit also guarantees the safety of connecting the simulator to the cell counting machine and prevents any damage to the analog processing unit of the machine.
