Evaluation of antimicrobial activity of Lactobacilli isolated from dairy products against pathogenic bacteria

Probiotic lactic acid bacteria can be introduced as live microorganisms that have beneficial effects on human gastrointestinal. Probiotics inhibit the pathogenic bacteria colonization using different mechanisms including enzyme production and intestinal tract pH reduction. The intestinal tract of human is inhabited by several bacteria that among them probiotics can improve the microbial balance through microbial actions. Species of the genera Lactobacillus, Bifidobacterium, and Enterococcus are considered as probiotics. The aim of this study was to isolate the lactobacillus species from dairy product and to determine the antimicrobial activity against some pathogenic bacteria
