The study of the similarities and differences of symbols in Kurdish and English languages

Every nation’s oral literature has a rich collection of proverbs,symbols, similes, metaphors and allegories which have been accepted byboth scientists and common people as the valuable abstracts of lifeexperiences. Studying the literature of a nation leads to make a deepunderstanding of ideas, preferences, interests, religions, beliefs, customs, andtraditions of the studied nation.A short glance at the literatures of Kurdish and English languagesresults in understanding the similarities and differences of thought of thespeakers of these languages by which one can learn a lot about the culturesof these people.The current paper ,which is descriptive-analytic, studies the symbols ofEnglish and Kurdish languages. The results show that the similarities anddifferences of these languages’ symbols are due to similarities anddifferences in ideas, religions, beliefs, life experiences, social and culturalissues of the speakers of these languages.
