USING PSO ALGORITHM FOR WELL PLACEMENT OPTIMIZATION IN AN OIL RESERVOIR

In field development, there is a challenge for decision making about number of new wells, location of them and production condition. Field developers determine these parameters in order to achieve maximum oil production or economic profit. Because of interference of many parameters in optimization, conventional methods such as derivative methods are not used and using powerful methods is recommended.In this work, first we are getting to know preliminary concepts of using optimization in well placement, and then define PSO algorithm and objective function evaluation for this purpose and Followed by using PSO algorithm for well placement optimization in a synthetic oil reservoir. At the end, a sensitivity analysis on PSO parameters is applied and results for defined case and Generalization of the results for real heterogeneous reservoir are reported.
