Exergoeconomic Evaluation of Dual Mixed Refrigerant (DMR) Natural Gas Liquefaction Process

Since the liquefaction processes of natural gas are energy consuming processes, to solve this issue, multi stage procedures are applied to increase the output of liquefaction processes instead of one stage. But considering the increased number of process equipment, the investment costs in these processes are increased. In this paper the important and known process of natural gas liquefaction and production of LNG, which involves two phase of cooling, is discussed considering exergy and exergoeconomic points. After evaluation of investment costs of DMR process, the parameters of exergy destruction costs and exergoeconomic factor of process was got and cost non-efficient points was distinguished.Results of exergy analysis demonstrates that exergy efficiency of DMR process is around 47.78%, and its total exergy destruction rate is 45603 kW. Results of exergoeconomic analysis suggests that maximum exergy destruction cost of DMR process is related to E-3 heat exchanger which is 1576.8 $/h and compressor C-2 has the highest exergoeconomic factor (55.57).
