The reactivation of conjugate tear faults and thrusts over multi-detachments in Qum area (Central Iran)

The purpose of this paper is to describe the processes by which salt detachments under antiforms and synform of the Alborz anticline(Qum) continue to cause deformation in the stratigraphic layers on top of the detachments. The pattern of faults in the map view and profiles show that the faults are conjugate. Evidence of this salt deformation and tectonic compression is found in the faulting, jointing, arch formation , and Quaternary deposits. The conjugate faults in the Qum area not only are conjugate in the map view but also they are conjugate in the profiles.
