چکیده مقاله:

Nanosilver is applied in different industrial products such as medical devices, food supplements and cosmetics due toits antibacterial properties. This extensive use of nanosilver causing an increased human exposure. Immunotoxicity ofnanosilver in biological system has not yet well understood. In this investigation, we analyzed toxicity effects of nanosilveron immune system and inflammatory response in rat model. The rats were divided in two groups and nanosilversuspension was administered orally once daily for 28 days. The daily dose Ag-NP was 20 mg/kg bw. Serum cytokineslevels of Tumor necrosis factor alpha and Interleukin 1 were determined. Hematological parameters includingneutrophils and white blood cells were counted. The control group was challenged with PBS. At 0, 7, 14 and 28th dayof treatment, blood samples were obtained from tail vein. The results of this study show nanosilver administrationinduced a significant increase on serum TNF-α and IL-1 during 7, 14 and 28th day of treatment. Nanosilveradministration also caused increment on serum neutrophils and white blood cell during treatment. In conclusion, ourfindings show oral administration of nanosilver induces immunotoxicity in rats.
