چکیده مقاله:

This study aimed to find the effects of ZnO nanoparticles (ZnO-NPs) on kidney function in mice (Musmusculus). Regarding beneficial properties of nanoparticles in technology and industry, and with advantage ofnanotechnology in all aspects of human beings, hazardous extensive use of nanoparticles and their impacts on the bodyhas been increasing. A group of 125 BALB/c mice of about 6 weeks (weighting 20±1.0 g) were randomly divided intofive groups: two ZnO-NPs, with two replications and a control group, each with 25 mice. The treatment groups werefurther equally divided into oral and intraperitoneal injection groups. Zn-NPs were administered once throughout theexperiment for the Zn-NPs groups while in the control group no nanoparticles were used. Blood sampling was obtainedfrom all groups directly from the heart on days 1, 7, 14 of the experiment. The serum was collected by centrifugation ofthe whole blood at 3000 rpm for 15 min. At the end, all mice were sacrificed to remove kidney. Histological slideswere prepared along with measuring biochemical parameters of BUN and creatinine. there were significant increase inBUN and Cr levels at day 7 that declared kidney damages.
