چکیده مقاله:

In this work an analytical study is carried out to optimize X-ray fluorescence (XRF) and flame atomic absorption spectrometry (FAAS) quantitative analysis of pd element used in Palladium- Carbon Catalysts. The content of this element was determined by FAAS and XRF for the reference sample and several samples for industrial use, and the results were compared with those obtained by XRF. The working conditions are optimized for XRF multi-elemental analysis, using the sample in the form of pellets, due to high loss on ignition (L.O.I) values. The preparation of suitable standards and working conditions for FAAS analysis have also been optimized. Comparison of the results obtained from XRF and FAAS analysis of Pd was showed more accurate values for FAAS. An accuracy of 1.0% with ±0.5% precision by FAAS and 6.0% accuracy with ±0.5% precision by XRF are found. The accuracy of the method was performed by analysis of the certified standard reference material (Type 331-PGMS including 5% pd). The limit of detection (LOD), defined as five times the standard deviation of the blank, was determined to be lower than 13.0 ppb. Under optimum conditions, the accuracy and precision (RSD%) of the method were >98.0 and <1.5%, respectively. To gauge its ability in terms of application to real samples, the proposed method was successfully applied for determination of Pd concentration in waste water samples and one soil standard material, and satisfactory results were obtained.
