Modified Y-source Impedance Network with Continuous Input Current and increased voltage boost capability

In this paper a new type of Y-source impedancenetwork is presented. In contrary to the conventional Y-sourceimpedance network, proposed impedance network hascontinuous input current and can suppress the inrush currentoccurs at startup. In addition, the modified Y-sourceimpedance network provides a higher voltage gain comparedto the conventional Y-source impedance network. Because ofsupplying high voltage gain, converters using this impedancenetwork are suitable for applications with renewable energysources like fuel cells and photovoltaic. In this paper operatingprinciples, analysis and mathematical derivation of themodified Y-source impedance network demonstrated. Then todetermine the network performance, a dc-dc converter isimplemented with the proposed network. Finally, performanceof the proposed converter verified with the aid of PSIMsimulation.
