The Impact of Omission on Dubbed Films: A Case Study of the Film ‘Face-Off’

The present study aimed at investigating the omissions occurred in the dubbed version of the film „Face-Off‟ according to Baker‟s (1992) categorization of omission in order to find out the most prevalent forms of omission in dubbed films and also the effects of these omissions in terms of understanding the foreign films. The results indicated that among the linguistic elements, words or expressions are commonly omitted in dubbing. On the whole, it can be said that the omissions which were occurred in the aforementioned film can not consider as a negative point as the whole story of the original film was transferred.
