چکیده مقاله:

This paper presents the results of a series of two-dimensional (2D) and three-dimensional (3D) numerical simulations of liquefaction and lateral spreading using OpenSees framework. We initially developed a 3D nonlinear dynamic Finite Element (FE) model using OpenSeesPL to study the behavior of liquefied soilin level ground under cyclic loading. The results were compared to the available laboratory element test data which validated our model. Considering the restrictions of 3D modeling such as computational time and cost, a 2D FE model was built using OpenSees to simulate flow liquefaction for the same soilconfiguration as the 3D model mentioned above. The 2D model was validated by comparing the results to the 3D model. We further modified our 2D model to simulate the response of a mildly sloping ground model to earthquake shaking. In this paper, we present the typical analysis results which demonstrate the successful reproduction of liquefaction-induced lateral spreading.
