Vibration Analysis of Timoshenko Beams Subjected to a Moving Mass and Spring System

This paper concerns with vibration analysis of a moving mass-spring system on a Timoshenko beam. A discrete element technique (DET) was used to discretize the problem. Although some investigations were carried out on beams subjected to moving mass by DET, the existence of the spring between the beam and the mass were not addressed so far. First, a DET formulation was developed for the system and then several examples were solved to verify the formulation and also to show the effect of various parameters such as the speed of mass-spring on the vibration response of the beam.
