The study and Identification of Pineapple Dome Ourchin - in terms of form,structure and construction

Pineapple Dome (Ourchin) is one of the Iranian domes and it is one of Rak domes. These kinds of domes are different in form from Rak domes. It can be said that it is in the south and south west of Iran and Iraq and Mesopotamia is the original source of these domes. Ahmad Eqtedari introduced these domes as small Ziggurats. Brick and adobe are the main materials in these types of domes and Saruj is applied in some examples as insulator in the external surface of dome.Pineapple Dome is classified as double-shell domes. By reviewing some of the available examples, we can say that some of them are continuous double-shell empty domes.These examples are Pineapple Dome of Danial, Yaqub Leis Safari tomb, Rudband tomb, Seyed Hassan Zahedan, Jafar holy shrine in Borujerd, etc.Finally, the structure of these domes are compared with Rak and Naz domes and we can say that Pineapple Domes are different from Rak domes in terms of form but as Rak domes are applied in construction of tombs.
