چکیده مقاله:
The hospitality industry increasingly relies on internationally recognized quality frameworks to build guest trust, strengthen destination competitiveness, and support sustainable growth. Europe has developed several mature instruments for this purpose, including the harmonized Hotelstars Union classification system, voluntary sustainability certifications such as Green Key and the EU Ecolabel, and dual vocational-education models exemplified by Swiss hospitality schools. Comparable emerging destinations in the Gulf and Asia-Pacific regions have pursued parallel, though independently designed, classification and benchmarking reforms, offering additional points of comparison for markets outside Europe. Iran, meanwhile, possesses an exceptionally rich cultural and natural heritage base and has recorded substantial recent growth in inbound arrivals, yet academic studies point to persistent gaps in hotel classification consistency, measured service quality, and workforce training. This paper presents a narrative literature review that synthesizes European hospitality management standards, comparative international experience, and Iranian hospitality-sector scholarship to propose a practical framework for selective adaptation. The review indicates that harmonized classification criteria, voluntary sustainability labelling, structured vocational training pipelines, and routine service-quality measurement are the most transferable components of the international experience reviewed. The paper concludes that contextualized, incremental adoption—rather than wholesale transplantation—offers the most realistic pathway for strengthening quality assurance and competitiveness in the Iranian hospitality sector, and it outlines practical implications for policymakers, hotel operators, and hospitality educators.
