Designing a performance evaluation model for the agility approach using artificial intelligence on the success of startups

This study aims to design a model for examining the effect of agile approach and artificial intelligence (AI) on startup success, with the mediating role of performance appraisal quality. This research is applied in terms of purpose and descriptive-analytical in methodology, using qualitative content analysis to review ۲۵ reputable scientific sources published between ۲۰۱۱ and ۲۰۲۵. The findings indicate that the agile approach, by fostering continuous feedback and flexibility, and AI, through its capability to analyze performance data and provide real-time feedback, individually and collectively exert a positive influence on performance appraisal quality. Furthermore, performance appraisal quality, as a mediating variable, plays a decisive role in translating these capabilities into tangible startup success. The proposed model accounts for ۶۲% of the variance in startup success. The final conclusion suggests that the simultaneous implementation of agility and AI within performance evaluation systems creates a significant competitive advantage for startups. Accordingly, it is recommended that startup managers transform performance appraisal from traditional seasonal cycles into continuous, data-driven processes and leverage AI tools for more precise analysis of performance data.
