چکیده مقاله:

The aim of this study is to examine the impact of body image (BI) related to breast cancer (BC) on mental health and to review strategies for mitigating the negative effects of body image. The BI after mastectomy scale (BIMS) is a thorough assessment of the attitudes and actions that may lead to post-mastectomy BI distress in women. The Body Appreciation Scale (BAS) measures positive BI notions. Mental health and BAS are found to be positively correlated. BI perception and satisfaction are adversely affected by surgical operations. Symptoms of depression are strongly correlated with changes in BI. Patients who express more body avoidance appear to be more likely to experience anxiety symptoms. In the absence of objective self-evaluation, individuals analyze social information and use it as a reference point when comparing things like BI and ability to others. Patients who have higher self-efficacy have more pleasant BI. Cancer patients have both positive psychological changes, such as Post-traumatic growth, and unpleasant emotional experiences. Young BC patients' quality of life is greatly impacted by their BI levels. Higher levels of physical activity boost self-efficacy, which in turn boosts self-esteem. Psychological therapies and social support help patients feel better about their bodies by lowering depression. In conclusion, the primary determinants of BI are found to be intimate connections, self-image, and self-acceptance. Social support moderates the connection between BI and psychological results.
