چکیده مقاله:

This article examines sustainable development as an international policy goal and analyzes it from an ethical perspective. The UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are a guide to achieving a balance between economic, social and environmental spheres in an ethical and just manner. In this regard, important documents such as Laudato Si', Gaia and Gaia ۲.۰ play a key role in completing the discussion. The article presents a global perspective that includes James Lovelock's Gaia theory, the concept of human benevolence religious teachings, and Timothy Lenton's vision of Gaia ۲.۰. It also emphasizes the important role of church, state and scientific research in solving environmental, social and economic challenges. The article further attributes the failure of sustainable development policies to structural barriers and weak sustainability discourse (such as Agenda ۲۰۳۰). To address this problem, a strong sustainability approach has been proposed that focuses on reducing structural gaps in the dimensions of space, time, functions, and relationships. Finally, strong sustainable development goals have been proposed that can help reduce human impacts on the environment and preserve biodiversity.
