چکیده مقاله:

Introduction: Selecting an appropriate site for residential projects is one of the most critical steps in architectural design, directly affecting residents' quality of life, energy consumption, and environmental sustainability. This study aims to present a practical and quantitative method for residential site analysis in Kashan City using an integrated matrix based on four key parameters. Methodology: A ۱۵۰۰ m² site on Imam Khomeini Street in Kashan was selected and divided into a grid of ۳×۳ m cells. Four parameters – “noise pollution (from the street and adjacent school)", "sunlight and shading (in winter at noon)", "access to the main road", and "desirable view and landscape" - were qualitatively evaluated using a color-coding method for each cell. Then, by aggregating the scores (equal weight for all parameters), a final map of the proposed villa location was derived. Findings: The results showed that the eastern and northeastern parts of the site, due to greater distance from noise sources (street and school), adequate winter sunlight, favorable access, and open views, have the highest suitability. In contrast, the southern and western parts, because of proximity to the busy street and school and reduced sunlight quality, obtained the lowest suitability. The final recommended zone was a clearly defined area in the northeastern part of the site. Conclusion: The presented integrated matrix method is a simple, transparent, and replicable tool for residential site analysis that can be used in early architectural design stages and avoids subjective decision-making.
