Review of the Role of Building Information Modeling (BIM) in Construction Contract Risk Management

Applying Building Information Modeling (BIM) technology has been widespread these days has developed throughout the world and thanks to its capabilities to the construction industry, it was able to improve productivity and quality. Considering the trend has been increased to use this technology covering all parts of the industry including design execution legal issues and etc. it would be fair to say that researchers have been made to analyze possible problems occurring in the process of adoption and application of BIM. Considering the legal and contractual issues have significant importance in the construction projects and overlooking the contractual rules and principles would face the parties to the contract with irreparable damages, BIM technology is to be used to eliminate the classical methods and assess the legal and contractual situation more efficiently and accurately. This article aims to study the impact of BIM on the control and management of contractual risks in construction projects and to identify the major contractual and legal issues involved in its use.
