Using k-nearest neighbor method to investigate optimum blast pattern in open pit mines

This research aimed to investigate optimum the hole diameter and spacing of blast patterns in open pit mines; the used charge was ANFO. It has been down via the minimum length of back break. First the blasting process was modeled by two-dimensional particle flow code based on the distinct element method, then more than ۲۰۰ required data were extracted from the models. The k-nearest neighbor (KNN) method that is a data mining technique was applied to the results for estimating the back-breaks of different blast patterns. By checking the back-breaks obtained from KNN, the highest score (the probability of correctly estimating) was ۰.۸۵.
