چکیده مقاله:

Vernacular architecture represents a sustainable approach to meeting users' needs and offers practical solutions to environmental challenges. Consequently, contemporary research increasingly focuses on understanding this architectural style and its constituent elements. Iran, characterized by diverse climates, hosts a variety of environmentally and climatically adapted vernacular architectures that have not yet been adequately studied. This study aims to introduce and compare two semi-open spaces employed in the vernacular architecture of two distinct Iranian climates: the "Telar" in the temperate, humid northern regions and the "Shenashil" in the hot, humid southern areas. Drawing on previous studies, field observations of Telar examples, and Telar modelling using Design Builder software, the study juxtaposes these findings with existing data on Shenashil. These two indigenous and traditional elements are examined and compared in terms of form, structure, and function, emphasizing their potential for incorporation into contemporary architecture.
