چکیده مقاله:

Daylight is an important aspect of sustainable architecture that influences energy efficiency, visual comfort, and the physical and psychological health of occupants. However, it appears that traditional and static metrics such as Daylight Factor (DF) alone are increasingly insufficient for evaluating daylight performance in contemporary buildings. These measurements do not account for temporal variations, glare risk, and the thermal effects associated with direct solar radiation. This study revisits quantitative climate-based daylighting measures via a comparative analysis of visual daylight indicators. It analyzes the role of indicators like Spatial Daylight Autonomy (SDA), Annual Sunlight Exposure (ASE), and Useful Daylight Illuminance (UDI) in comparison to traditional evaluation methods. The study, based on a systematic review of peer-reviewed literature and established daylighting standards, demonstrates that modern daylighting metrics, which integrate climatic data and temporal patterns, offer a more accurate assessment of daylight adequacy and glare management while also considerably supporting the sustainability goals of architectural design. Daylight metrics are advantageous tools for achieving sustainable architecture goals, as they enable a quantifiable assessment of energy efficiency, occupant health, and visual comfort under dynamic climatic conditions, thereby supporting the long-term resilience and performance of sustainable built environments.
