Optimal adjustment of ACI formula for shear strength of reinforced concrete deep beams

The ACI formula for estimating the shear strength of reinforced concrete deep beams exhibits limitations due to omission of several influential parameters. This study aims to improve the predictive performance of the ACI expression by incorporating the effects of beam size and flexural reinforcement ratio. A comprehensive experimental database comprising ۵۷۴ specimens collected from reputable sources was assembled to cover a wide range of concrete compressive strengths and flexural reinforcement ratios. Using the PSO algorithm, optimal adjustment coefficients for the ACI formula were derived and a revised model for predicting the shear capacity of deep beams was proposed. Statistical analyses demonstrate that the proposed modified model significantly outperforms the original ACI formulation in terms of prediction accuracy.
