Analysis of Four Translations of Animal Farm based on Garcés Model: A Corpus-Based Study

The present study aims to investigate the employment of the Semantic-Lexical level of Garcés (۱۹۹۴) translation strategies in four Persian translations of the novel Animal Farm by Amir Amirshahi (۲۰۱۵), Ahmad Kasei Poor (۲۰۱۴), Kaveh Mir Abbasi (۲۰۲۰), and Abbas Zare'i (۲۰۱۴). At the same time, this research seeks to enhance the Garcés (۱۹۹۴) model at the Semantic-Lexical level. The current part of the study showed that the most used strategy was 'Adaptation,' while the most used strategy was that of 'Engendering Ambiguity.' The investigation also improved the model itself. Besides the strategies proposed in the original model, the authors included ۴ further strategies: ۱) Literal Translation, ۲) Omission, ۳) Disambiguation, and ۴) Modulation. Moreover, the researchers further separated the 'Definition' strategy into two separate strategies, namely, 'Definition' and 'Addition of Information'.
