Background: Scottish Fold Osteochondrodysplasia (SFOCD) is a heritable skeletal disorder caused by a TRPV۴ variant, leading to cartilage and bone deformities. Clinical signs include lameness and reduced mobility. Diagnosis is challenging, treatment is mainly palliative, and ethical concerns arise from continued breeding despite disease risk. Methods: A narrative review of ۱۵ studies (۱۹۹۹-۲۰۲۵) on Scottish Fold osteochondrodysplasia was performed. Data on clinical features, imaging (radiography, CT, MRI), TRPV۴ genetics, interventions, and outcomes were extracted. Findings were synthesized narratively due to study heterogeneity Results: Fifteen studies (۱,۳۳۸ cats) highlighted consistent TRPV۴ c.۱۰۲۴G>T association. Lameness and stiffness predominantly affected tarsi, phalanges, carpi, and tail, typically bilaterally. Radiography revealed characteristic exostoses and ankylosis; CT enhanced lesion detection. Management with NSAIDs, selective radiotherapy, and occasional surgery improved mobility, though advanced ankylosing cases remained challenging. Conclusion: SFOCD is a genetically driven, clinically variable disorder with significant welfare impact. Effective management requires targeted imaging, tailored analgesia, and selective radiation, while genotype alone should not dictate prognosis or breeding. Standardized phenotyping and collaborative studies are essential to establish evidence-based care.
