چکیده مقاله:

Plastic mulching, as a technology for improving the quality and performance of agricultural products, is used in the cultivation of various crops. However, due to increasing environmental concerns in recent years, pollution caused by plastic mulches has made them less desirable in agriculture. As a result, there has been a rapid increase in the use of biodegradable mulches, particularly paper mulches. Unlike plastic mulches, paper mulches are fully biodegradable and do not leave microplastic residues in the soil, making them a more environmentally friendly option that supports long-term soil health and sustainability. This paper reviews the development trends of mulches, the current status of paper mulch use in crop cultivation, its production methods, and its impacts in field trials. Additionally, the advantages and challenges of paper mulches compared to plastic mulches are analyzed based on findings from scientific literature, and the future potential of paper mulches in sustainable agriculture is explored.
