This paper presents a comparative study of monopole telecommunication towers with polygonal cross-sections (۸-sided, ۱۲-sided, and ۱۶-sided) and circular sections, designed in accordance with TIA/EIA-۲۲۲F and TIA/EIA-۲۲۲G standards. Structural members were assumed isotropic with uniform cross-sections along their lengths, neglecting temperature effects. Bolt holes were modeled per AISC standards, and connections were designed using plates and flange joints. Load estimation was performed using Microsoft Excel, while SAP۲۰۰۰ v۱۶.۰.۰ was employed for structural design. Verification was conducted using RISA Tower – Tnx Tower ۶.۲. The results indicate that circular cross-sections consistently outperform polygonal sections in terms of structural efficiency, yielding lower weights and smaller support reactions.
