The Role of AI in Personalized Writing Feedback for EFL Learners

This study investigates the transformative impact of Artificial Intelligence (AI) on delivering personalized writing feedback to English as a Foreign Language (EFL) learners. Traditional feedback methods often struggle with issues like inconsistency, time limitations, and a lack of personalization. In contrast, AI-powered tools provide a scalable solution to enhance learners' writing skills. This paper explores how AI technologies-such as natural language processing (NLP), machine learning algorithms, and automated writing evaluation systems-enable timely, focused, and adaptive feedback that aligns with each learner's proficiency and writing requirements. Additionally, it addresses the pedagogical implications, advantages, and challenges of incorporating AI-driven feedback into EFL writing instruction. The findings indicate that AI has the potential to greatly improve learner engagement, independence, and writing accuracy. However, it is essential to implement it thoughtfully to support, rather than substitute, human feedback. The paper concludes with suggestions for the effective use of AI in English as a Foreign Language (EFL) settings and identifies areas for future research.
