چکیده مقاله:

Diabetes Mellitus (DM) is a chronic endocrine disorder associated with numerous complications, including Peripheral Arterial Diseases (PAD) and neuropathies, which significantly increase the risk of infections. In ۲۰۲۳, approximately ۵۳۷ million individuals were diagnosed with DM, contributing to ۶.۷ million deaths in ۲۰۲۱. One of the most serious complications of DM is the development of Diabetic Foot Ulcers, which affect up to ۲۵% of patients and can lead to amputation and increased mortality; however, these ulcers are also preventable. Notably, up to ۵۰% of diabetic patients with lower limb ulcers exhibit signs of PAD, underscoring the critical need for regular vascular assessments in this population to mitigate complications. Our hypothesis is that disturbances in microcirculation contribute to ischemia, creating an environment conducive to infection. This study aims to investigate the histopathological manifestations and vascular changes associated with diabetic foot ulcers, focusing on the roles of vasculitis among other mechanisms. By adopting a broader perspective on vascular pathology in diabetic foot ulcers, we hope to enhance understanding and improve prevention strategies.
