چکیده مقاله:

This study aims to reexamine the position of Menes in ancient Egyptian history by moving ‎beyond classical narratives and conventional identifications. It proposes that Menes was not a ‎historical figure from the First Dynasty, but rather the forgotten founder of Egypt’s earliest ‎unification during the prehistorical era. The significance of this inquiry lies in the absence of ‎direct archaeological evidence for Menes, despite his prominent presence in Egypt’s cultural ‎memory—a gap that has long challenged historiography. Employing an interdisciplinary ‎approach, the research analyzes three core dimensions: comparative archaeological sources, ‎linguistic examination of the term “Menes” in hieroglyphic texts, and critical evaluation of ‎classical traditions. Findings suggest that Menes was a real prehistorical figure who played a ‎foundational role in Egypt’s initial unification prior to the emergence of writing. This ‎reinterpretation highlights the importance of cultural memory and calls for renewed ‎historiographical methods.‎
