چکیده مقاله:

Background and Aim: Working children carry the burden of family life on their young shoulders; however since they are young and helpless and there is nobody to protect them, they might be targeted for all sorts of oppression and abuse. On the other hand, since they miss their educational opportunities, problem solving training is very crucial for them to survive in the brutal world of working children. Methods: For this purpose, a quasi-experimental research with pretest-posttest design with a control group was conducted. ۲۰ working children were selected and assigned randomly to two experimental (۱۰) and control (۱۰) groups. The experimental group experienced the Interpersonal Creative Problem Solving program (Kashani Vahid, et al. ۲۰۱۴) for ۱۲ sessions for two months. The control group received no intervention during the training sessions and waited in the waiting list. The teachers' form of Social Skills Rating Scale (Gresham and Elliott, ۱۹۹۰) was used to measure their social skills in the pre and posttest stages. The obtained data was analyzed using Analysis of Covariance. Results: The present study was designed to evaluate the effectiveness of an interpersonal creative problem solving training on social skills of working children with behavioral problems. Conclusion: The findings showed significant differences (p<۰.۵) between the experimental and the control group in social skills. The effect size for social skills was ۰.۵۸۰, and for its subscales were ۰.۴۳۷ for cooperation, ۰.۵۱۹ for assertiveness, and ۰.۵۱۲ for self-control. At the end, using interpersonal creative problem solving training to improve social skills of working children was discussed. Further discussions as well as suggestions for future research are presented.
