Background and Aim: People with progressive neurological diseases such as multiple sclerosis (MS) experience speech disorders like dysarthria and language disorders like naming problems, semantic errors and circumlocutory naming errors, semantic paraphasia, non-fluent speech, grammatical and syntactic problems such as reduced mean maximum length of sentences and the number of spoken words and impairment in high level language skills. Impairments in speech and language skill limit patients' social life, occupation and psychological and physical functions (quality of life). Therefore, in order to prevent damage to quality of life, diagnosis of speech and language disorders are of high importance in the early stages of the disorders. Regarding previous studies, speech and language pathologists are among those experts playing an important role in diagnosis and treatment of speech and language disorder. Hence considering the importance of communication in social, occupational, and operational life, and speech and language role as the richest means of communication, this study aimed the role of speech and language pathologists in speech and language disorders' treatment in multiple sclerosis patients. Methods: The present study was a review on published researches in Elsevior, Pubmed, Google Scholar data bases and search in library resources. In first step ۱۰۶ articles founded which based on MS,
MS symptoms, and rehabilitation in
MS key words. In second step, ۸۶ articles finally selected based on speech and language problems in MS, speech therapy, and treatment methods in
MS criteria, and applied to prepare the article evaluation. Results: The Role Of Speech And Language Pathologists In Speech And Language Disorders' Treatment In Multiple Sclerosis Patients Conclusion Results. The results showed that
MS patients have speech and language disorder. This has negative effect on their ability in keeping communication, their demands' and needs' expression, participating in group's conversation, and social life.
MS patient needed treatment in speech and language skill to achieve individual independence, optimal partnership in society, and increase life quality. Conclusion. Speech and language pathologists can treatment speech and
language disorder by using rehabilitation approaches, and reinforcing and helping tools. Early diagnosis and intervention of
MS speech and language disorders by Speech and language pathologists leading to improving operations as soon as possible, preventing disorders' development and limitation in daily communications and operational, work, and social life.
