چکیده مقاله:
Background and Aim: Alzheimer's is a progressive neurodegenerative disease in which the patient loses his cognitive functions over a period of time. Most of all, it is a memory disorder. Early diagnosis of Alzheimer's disease can be an effective step in initiating treatment and preventing the progression of the disease. Functional imaging is one of the most common methods to evaluate brain function in neurological and psychiatric diseases. EEG is one of the most commonly used clinical neurimaging methods to evaluate brain function. An individual's peak alpha frequency (iAPF) can be used as a neuromarker to evaluate overall brain performance speed and brain cognitive levels. By decreasing cognitive functions with age, it is expected that the level of iAPF is also reduced. Methods: The study involved ۱۰ people over the age of ۶۰ (۶ men and ۴ women) who referred to the office because of mild memory disorders. MMSE test was performed on these subjects and EEG recorded for ۱۰ minutes in Eye close condition. EEG is performed in ۱۹-channel system with a ۱۰-۲۰ system. The iAPF index is obtained from the posterior regions of the brain. The relationship between the MMSE test score and the iAPF index is examined. Results: The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between the iAPF index and the level of cognitive functions to predict the onset of Alzheimer's disorder. In this study, we investigate the relationship between iAPF index and MMSE (Mini-mental state examination) questionnaire in individuals over the age of ۶۰ years. The MMSE is a test to assess the quality of consciousness by diagnosing and screening for dementia. Conclusion Statistical analysis of the results showed a correlation between the MMSE scores and the iAPF index. The results also showed a significant relationship between the decrease in iAPF index and MMSE scores. This study suggests that the iAPF index can be used as a warning marker to evaluate Alzheimer's clinical symptoms.
